The Urban Technology Alliance (UTA) is pleased to announce that Cauayan City in Isabela, Philippines, has joined its growing network of cities dedicated to leveraging technology for sustainable urban development. This strategic partnership aims to enhance Cauayan City’s smart city initiatives by collaborating with UTA members to address the city’s pressing urban challenges.

Cauayan City’s decision to join UTA highlights its commitment to becoming a leader in smart city development within the Philippines. By joining with UTA, Cauayan City will gain access to a global network of cities, technology experts, innovators, and industry leaders. This collaboration will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and solutions to meet the city’s specific needs.

The inclusion of Cauayan City marks a significant milestone for UTA, as it represents the first South Asian city to join the alliance. “Cauayan City’s proactive approach to sustainable urban development perfectly aligns with our goals,” stated UTA President Levent Gürgen. “We look forward to supporting Cauayan’s journey towards becoming a smarter, more resilient city.”

The announcement of this partnership followed the 2^nd International Smart City Exposition and Networking Engagement (iSCENE), held from April 11 to 13, 2024, at the Isabela Convention Center in Cauayan City. Themed “Synergy Unleashed: Becoming Smart Cities Through Strategic Partnerships,” the event provided a platform to showcase the collaborative potential between UTA and Cauayan City. During iSCENE, government leaders, industry experts, and academic institutions discussed innovative solutions and strategic models for creating smart, liveable, and sustainable communities.

Cauayan City’s membership in UTA will further reinforce its ongoing smart city projects, including the Smart Water Infrastructure and Management (SWIM) initiative and its Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) roadmap for affordable and clean energy, as well as disaster management projects. These initiatives reflect Cauayan City’s dedication to utilizing technology and innovation to enhance urban services and improve the quality of life for its residents.The Urban Technology Alliance is eager to work closely with Cauayan City and other member cities to foster a global network of smart, sustainable urban environments.
