The UTA Café

On Monday, 1st of December, the Urban Technology Alliance (UTA) will host a new UTA Café webinar entitled “From Cloud and Edge to City: AI-Empowered Pilots for Smarter Urban Futures.”
This session will bring together representatives from industry and research to present three practical pilot implementations demonstrating how cloud–edge technologies operate in real urban environments.

UTA will open the session with a short introduction to the context and relevance of this Café, highlighting how the pilots contribute to the evolution of data-driven, resilient and responsive urban services.
The pilots presented in this webinar are part of the COGNIFOG project.

What’s it about?

Théo Manea from Thales will present an overview of the crisis-management pilot, focusing on flood detection, alerting workflows, and rescue mission coordination supported by cloud–edge processing. A link to Thales’ work in this area will be provided during the session.

Harry Kakoulidis from Telematic Medical Applications will introduce the e-Health pilot, explaining how cloud–edge integration supports medical data processing, device responsiveness, and continuity of patient monitoring.

Nikos Demartinos from Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation will present the smart manufacturing pilot, giving insight into automated workload distribution across the edge–cloud continuum and improvements in process stability and efficiency.

The session will conclude with an open Q&A.
